About IACRA

Although the FAA has long processed applications for airman ratings and certificates submitted on paper forms, they are currently transitioning to all-electronic submission via their IACRA website. IACRA is an acronym for Integrated Airman Certificatation and Rating Application, and will eventually replace all hardcopy applications. In fact, because of the extra time and effort required to use paper forms, most Designated Pilot Examiners (including this one) assess an additional processing fee, should the students choose not to use IACRA. For this reason, we encourage you and your flight instructor to familiarize yourself with, and utilize, electronic submission.

To help you with this transition to these web-based forms, in 2015 Prof. Shuch developed an FAA Safety Team WINGS seminar dealing with IACRA use. That seminar later became an online webinar offered through the Experimental Aircraft Association. To access it as a 1 1/2 hour video, simply click on the opening slide graphic, below.
